VBS and Father's Day Weekend

Last week our church hosted VBS. Each year we end up teaching/leading a group of children. This time we worked with the 3 year olds. Most of the time we lead them through different activities and centers.

Madeline spent each night next door in the nursery. It was hard getting a wound up child to bed every night, especially when she was out of her routine and teething at the same time. She did really good nonetheless and had fun.

The last night is always family night and each kid is encouraged to bring their family to church to enjoy dinner and other fun activities. This year they had an outdoor concert, bounce house and snow cones. Since Madeline is a little young for all of the activities we enjoyed sitting out with some of our friends and listened to music.

Here is our cutie enjoying a cookie. I don't think there is a cookie she doesn't like. Can't blame her though! :) Doesn't she look cute sitting in her big girl chair.

She is notorious for stealing sips from our Sonic cups.

She cracks me up in this picture. As you can tell, she was not interested in sitting in my lap.

After we came home she "helped" me water all of my flowers outside. She managed to get watered herself! haha Don't worry this cup was refilled with water.

Friday my parents and brother came into Atown for a little visit. Unfortunately we spent the first several hours of their visit without air conditioning, but don't worry we did what anyone else would. We left the house and enjoyed free AC and dinner at Jason's Deli. Thanks to my wonderful husband, we returned to the house with a working AC! We left thinking we had time to eat before the repairman arrived, but as soon as we ordered and sat down he was on his way to our house. Thankfully we have a little life left in our old AC, but it needed a new fan motor.

Saturday we cooked out and Madeline enjoyed some pool time in her new pool. As you can tell by the smile on her face....she was quite excited. Asia was too, but she soon found out the pool was not for her.

Of course we all sat around the pool and watched our little sweetie. No wonder she LOVES being the center of attention. After all that is what she is 90% of the time.

She also played with Joe for a little while

and enjoyed a good bedtime story.

Talked Gramps into coloring before church

and picked out her own shoes for church! :)

Starbucks Date

Our day started off with gymnastics, followed by a play date with Madeline's friend from the NICU, lunch with daddy and ended with a family outing of dinner and Starbucks. A pretty good Thursday!

Madeline enjoying her first Starbucks' drink.

It was her idea to get dressed up for the event, wearing her pearls and best hat.

Joe's New Digs

Saturday Mike built Madeline's newest pet a new "house". In case you didn't know how spoiled all of our pets are, the turtle is no exception.

We added some fresh top soil, hosta plants and monkey grass, a pool and a
terra cotta hide out, rocks and a few tree branches.

Mike also built a lid to keep out all the varmints of the neighborhood.

He dug a burrow in between the plants and is enjoying his new place.

Grandparents Weekend

I took an unintentional break from blogging for a few weeks. In attempt to play ketchup these pictures are from the weekend before last... I know bad blogger! :)

Anyways...on with the pictures because I know that is all you really care about. Madeline's Papa came for a visit before he left for his annual Appalachian Trail trip. It is very obvious that we are booted to the curb and our little sweetie was the main attraction, but that is ok we wouldn't want it any other way! :) She enjoys the attention and likes seeing a face other than mine!

Papa came bearing gifts. Grammy couldn't make the trip, but she sent a book for Madeline. Thanks Grammy she loves the book. She had to talk him into reading it to her. Not really she has him wrapped around her little finger.

She even conned him into playing with her toys,

going for a spin, and drawing with the sidewalk chalk.

Saturday she was the center of attention for two more grandparents. This kid is really blessed to have so many grandparents and people in her life that lover her so much. Her great grandpa and great grandma drove down to see her sweet little face.

Madeline introduced them to Joe.

Enjoyed eating snacks and sat in grandma's lap.

Sunday we loaded up the car and headed to Pville to be with my family. I wish that it was for a enjoyable reason, but unfortunately there was a unexpected death in my dad's side of the family. It was nice visiting with aunts, uncles and cousins I rarely see, however I wish the circumstances were different. We did make the best of the trip and enjoyed a few days with my family. Of course Madeline was all about going for a ride on the "car" as she calls it.

My parent's dog always up for a ride as well. She even taught Asia to join in on the fun. Both of my parents took her for several rides on the golf cart, but I didn't manage to get a picture of her and my dad riding around. She had a lot of fun and I think I know what she is going to want for Christmas this year...hint hint! haha!

One of my parents' dogs had puppies about 3 weeks ago. The mom is very protective of the puppies, but we were able to get a few out and aren't they CUTE??!!??? Since we don't have enough animals or mouths to feed at the Casa de Phillips, Madeline will be picking out her favorite puppy in a few more weeks.

19 Months - A Little Late

I can't believe that you are 19 months old (actually almost 20). Every day you seem more and more of a toddler and less like a baby. You are sweet loving girl. You are also very strong-willed. Some days toddlerhood is hard, but I wouldn't trade any minute. You are enjoying riding in the car more...I think we finally figured out you get a little bored back there by yourself. I still can't get over how much you love being girly. I eat up every minute. You love your hair bows and jewelry. You are learning so much and understand more and more each day.

You have 3 of your 4 first molars, but the 4th one is peaking through. We are beyond ready for this stage to be over with. Molars are not fun for anyone!!! You love listing all of the people in your family, including your pets. You pick up new words all of the time. You really enjoy gymnastics and absolutely LOVE jumping on the trampolines. It is almost like you just realized how much fun it is to jump and you like to jump on your daybed.

Family is important to you and enjoy when they visit you, especially your grandparents and Megan. Animals are also a favorite and you always talk about your pets. You like to watch Barney and Dora. Most of the time you just like having it on and watch only a few minutes. You are definitely an outside girl. You would play outside all day if we would let you. You are such a sweet sweet girl. We love you so much!!!

Memorial Day Weekend - A Little Late

Our family usually joins the Phillips' for a camping weekend, however with a very busy toddler, high temps, and a long drive in the car we decided to stay home and enjoy time in Abilene. We greatly missed seeing Mike's family, but it was nice to spend the long weekend at home playing outside, blowing bubbles, playing in the sprinkler and drawing with sidewalk chalk. Here are a few pictures of our sweet pea!
